An exciting new venture is underway to ensure that poker players enjoy the best of both worlds. Montel Williams, famous US talk show celebrity with an Emmy award under his belt, has taken his love for the game of poker and turned it into concrete plans to launch a new reality TV poker show.

 

Former Senator Alphonse D’Amato, who serves as the Chairman of the powerful Poker Players Alliance, has issued a statement showing the group’s disappointment in the recent guilty plea put in by Party Gaming founder, Anurag Dikshit.

 

The PartyPoker sponsored Premier League III has completed its fourth day and eighth heat. The top three players are J.C. Tran, Peter Eastgate and Tom Dwan with 32 points, 26 points and 22 points respectively. These three have virtually sealed their place in the finals.

 

Good news for the poker world in the United States: A Pennsylvania judge has decided to do what the legal world should have done long ago – rule that poker is a game of skill and not a game of chance.

PartyPoker has preponed its Season 3 of the Premier League from 2009 to the last week of November 2008 at the insistence of the broadcasters. The event will take place in London.

In a packed Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio Peter Eastgate of Denmark beat Ivan Demidov of Russia in the heads-up of the WSOP 2008 Main Event. It took 104 hands and four hours of seesaw battle for Eastgate to wear out his opponent. Eastgate won the bracelet and the top prize of $9,152,416.

 

As from Thursday 20th November, the popular World Poker Tour online poker room will be closed down. This follows a decision made by World Poker Tour Enterprises in October after a dismal financial report for the group.

 

Ultimate Bet has promised to investigate a suspected software glitch on its poker site after losing players were awarded prizes or congratulated on their wins.

 

Microgaming, the Isle of Man software developer, has announced that it has acquired the rights to operate the PokerWize three-dimensional poker brand from its redundant parent company, PlayWize.

 

Poker fans will be pleased to note the release of a brand new poker site, PayNoRake.com, which operates under the banner of high commission and rakeback rates. The site was released by Playsafe Holding, a Norwegian company, and is licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.
