A large number of items from the final table of the WSOP 2008 Main event was auctioned. These include decks of cards, dealer button, table felts and signage. However the prized item is the final table itself. The auction was conducted at WSOPshop.com by XP Events.
Buyers could log onto the web site and placed their bids. The auction has already ended on the 24th of November. XP Events has signed a multi year contract to handle WSOP’s retail merchandising operations and operates the WSOPshop.com site.
Because of televised broadcasts, poker has started generating an immense fan following and WSOP Director of Marketing Ty Stewart is very upbeat about the auction. He said that this auction is a chance for the fans to own a piece of poker history, which will give them “ultimate bragging rights”. He added. “We have very passionate fans and we expect this auction to generate a lot of interest.”
