Poker Stars, the leading online poker room, is attempting to enter the New Jersey gambling market by signing a contract with Resorts Casino Club in Atlantic City to provide the casino club with online poker and games software.
Poker Stars is owned by the Isle of Man based Rational Group and the deal between the group and Resorts Casino Club is subject to approval of the New Jersey gambling authorities. Atlantic City casinos are required to submit the names of any software companies with which they intend partnering to the New Jersey gambling authorities for approval before Internet Gambling is introduced in November, 2013.
Mark Scheinberg, the Chief Executive Officer of Poker Stars revealed “Resorts is a fantastic partner for us and we are looking forward to launch Poker Stars in the US in association with the other quality brands Resorts has brought to Atlantic City. We are very happy to invest in New Jersey and we are excited about building a successful relationship with Resorts.”
According to Morris Baily, Company Chairman of Resorts, “This is another blue chip partner for Resorts to complete a wonderful series of brands – Mohegan Sun, Margaritaville and now Poker Stars.”
Rational Group reached an agreement with the Department of Justice in 2012 for a clean slate and an opportunity for Poker Stars to re-enter the online gambling market in the US in return for multi million dollar Settlement.
