The Third Annual World Poker Congress was held in Budapest, Hungary on the 29th and the 30th of October. The representatives of some of the biggest land and online poker companies attended this event.
The objective of the congress, according to the organizers of the event, Clarion Gaming, was to find synergy between land and online poker and advance the interests of poker as a whole.
The topic of the keynote address this year was “Global Domination - Power Poker Brands Debate the Future”. Speaking on behalf of the land based poker segment was Steve Lipscomb, the founder and head of World Poker Tour Enterprises. Representing the online poker segment was Bwin Interactive Entertainment Head of Poker, Hendrick Knopp. Later Chris Parker of the APT spoke on poker in Asia and Matt Savage spoke on the latest trends in tournament hosting. One of the interesting topics scheduled for discussion was whether poker rules the world over should be standardized.
