A few months ago the Kahnawake Gaming Commission had appointed industry expert Frank Catania to probe the insider cheating scandal at Ultimate Bet. The preliminary report is now out and Kahnawake has imposed sanctions on the online poker room.
For the first time an individual has been named and he is Russ Hamilton, who is associated with Ultimate Bet’s affiliate program. Prosecution of Hamilton under appropriate laws is on the cards.
Kahnawake has also levied a $1.5 million fine on Ultimate Bet. It has instructed that Ultimate Bet starts the refunds to further players who were cheated by the superusers before the 3rd of November. Ultimate Bet will also have to remove from service all employees that Kahnawake finds unsuitable. Since only the preliminary investigation has been completed Ultimate Bet has been directed not to delete any of its records.
Kahnawake has confirmed that the loopholes that led to the cheating have been plugged and have not named the present owners of Ultimate Bet as being involved in the scandal.
