PokerStars, the online poker room that sponsors the European Poker Tour (EPT) has said that this year it will guarantee a prize of £1 million to the winner of the London event of the EPT.
This is great news for poker players, who will recall that last year Joseph Mouawad won only £611,520 in comparison for coming first in this event. The good news extends to all players because in addition to guaranteeing £1,000,000 to the winner, PokerStars is adding £250,000 to the overall prize pool.
The £5,200 buy-in event will take place in London from October 1 to October 5. It will be held at the Victoria Grosvenor Casino. The satellites for this event have already started on PokerStars and will continue till late September. Last year 60 qualifiers participated in this event. Four of the first five were qualifiers, who together won over a million pounds. The winner, Mouawad, was one of them.
