The Democratic National Convention will be held from August 25 to August 28 at Coors Field in Denver. Several events will be held there during this time. One of them is a charity poker tournament announced by the Poker Players Alliance for August 26.
The tournament is being called “Poker at the Ballpark” and the proceeds will assist the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
The tournament will be preceded by a VIP reception. Single seat entries cost $500 each. The four-seat group entries are named “Full House” and cost $3,500 and the eight-seat group entries are named Royal Flush and cost $7,500. Spectators will have to pay $250. The celebrities who have already confirmed their participation are actor Ben Affleck and poker pros Barry Greenstein and Andy Bloch.
Though PPA Chairman Alfonse D'Amato has said that the purpose of the tournament is to raise funds for “those who have fought to protect our country and our individual freedoms”, the PPA’s leaning towards the Democratic Party is well known.
