Despite the fact that the current recession is causing the land based bingo industry to suffer, the UK online bingo industry continues to grow.
A recent survey done by Mintel, a market research company, revealed that the four biggest spenders in online bingo advertising during 2008 were Cashcade, a bingo software developer and provider, Sun Bingo, Gala Bingo and William Hill Bingo. A combined total of more than 10 million pounds was spent by these four bingo operators on advertising.
The biggest spender in the group was Sun Bingo who allocated an amount of 3.2 million pounds to its 2008 marketing budget. At present it is running a bingo promotion and will give away 100 new Fiat Panda cars each day until September 27, 2009.
An amount of 3 million pounds was spent on advertising by a Cashcade bingo site, Foxy Bingo – the same online bingo site that just a few days ago launched a new free bingo site, Foxy Zero.
Gala Bingo spent 2.3 million pounds on advertising making it the third largest spender on advertising while William Hill Bingo spent the least of the four with 1.6 million pounds spent on advertising.
