One of the most well known premiership football clubs in the United Kingdom, Burnley, with a 128 year history in the sport, has announced that it has entered into a sponsorship partnership with Fun88, an online gaming group.
The group earned itself an operating license through the Isle of Man late last year and hopes to penetrate the European market from its Asian base next season. Fun88 has already planned a number of marketing initiatives in order to expand into the UK and European gaming scene in the most effective way possible.
This is the eighth Premier League team to sign a sponsorship deal with an online gambling group, which means that 50% of top English football teams have entered a partnership with an entity in the online gaming world.
“We are delighted and proud to have secured Fun88 as our shirt sponsors for the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons,” said Barry Kilby, chairman for the Burnley FC. “This multi-million-pound deal is clear evidence of the global appeal of Burnley Football Club as a result of our Premier League status.
“We had discussions with many top international companies expressing an interest in getting involved with the club,” added Kilby. “But we feel the special relationship we have enjoyed and established with Fun88 will be one that is hugely beneficial to both parties. We look forward immensely to working with them on several exciting ventures over the next two years.”
