Despite an announcement made in June 2011 that Bodog online casino would allow its agreement with the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group (MMGG) to expire on 31st December, 2011, Bodog and MMGG decided to terminate the agreement as from December 14th. This was done due to the uncertainty in the US online gambling legislation.
Since Wednesday, December 14th, American players were unable to access the MMGG Bodog online casino and found a note stating ‘”Access to this site is not available from your current location. The Mohawk Gaming Group no longer offers its services under license from the Bodog Brand”. Players are also unable to access the Bodog sites operating from other jurisdictions.
American players may, however, withdraw their funds or transfer their account to the new Morris Mohawk Gaming Group online gambling portal which will be operating using the brand name Bovada from the www.bovada.lv web site, registered in Latvia.
The name of the new MMGG brand Bovada is a combination of the names Bodog and Nevada.
Bodog, one of the leading online casino, poker and sports betting providers, has revealed that their marketing strategy for the coming year is to attempt to expand further into the European market and endeavor to find new business opportunities in the newly emerging Asian markets.
