The US market is presently being dominated by online casino companies that are based in other countries. After the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act the US attempted to eliminate many companies. However, these same companies are today still running the market with the US turning a blind eye.
With online casino companies based in other countries overpowering the US market, Representative Barney Frank is hopeful that there will be a marked shift in the situation with a move in online casino power once there is a change to the Internet gambling laws.
In preparation for any changes made to the US Law, Harrah’s Entertainment is bracing itself by creating a new company and have hired the former chief executive of PartyGaming who are one of the world’s most prosperous Internet gambling companies.
Harrah’s move has resulted in more land based casinos starting to prepare of the new legislation in an attempt to seek new ways of generating revenue.
The US based casino companies such as MGM Mirage, Harrah’s, Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts will probably be the starting point of handing out Online gambling licenses.
The industry is waiting for legislation that will overturn the UIGEA within the next few weeks.
