According to the results of a comprehensive new report, Australians and New Zealanders gamble more online than any other nation.
The survey, commissioned by a leading Canadian university, interviewed 20,000 online gamblers from over 100 countries around the globe and found that Australian gamblers wager over $400 on average every month online, even exceeding those in the United States who were traditionally considered the most active players.
“Australian internet gamblers do report higher average monthly gambling spending than the overall average we observed among our sample,” said Professor Robert Wood from the University of Lethbridge who conducted the research with his colleague, Prof. Robert Williams. “This would suggest that the Australian internet gamblers do indeed spend more on gambling compared with internet gamblers from most other countries.”
