The state owned Norwegian gambling monopoly, Norsk Tipping, announced this week that it had chosen a new Chief Executive Officer.

Torbjorn Almind, whose background lies in genetic diseases and hospital fund administration, will take over the challenging role as Norway stands at the threshold of important decisions regarding its gambling industry.

Speaking about his new role as CEO of Norsk Tipping, Torbjorn Almind said: "It is vital to succeed in maintaining the crucial balance between commercial success and social responsibility. This is the whole basis for Norsk Tipping's monopoly. With many of Norway's best known and highly popular products, the company ensures that good social causes receive major contributions year after year without creating major social problems. It's precisely this multiplicity that makes this job both unique and challenging."
