The search is on for a new Chief Executive Officer of one of Europe’s leading online gambling jurisdictions, the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA). According to this group, its current CEO, Mario Galea, has resigned from the LGA, effective immediately. No other details were released regarding the sudden departure of Galea from such a prominent position.

The LGA said that it was now seeking a new Chief Executive Officer, while the role would be filled temporarily by Michael Gonzi.

Mario Galea has been instrumental in building LGA into one of the world’s most respected remote gambling authorities, first as an individual consultant and afterwards as co-author of a number of regulations that have brought the group to the frontline of European gambling legislation.

It is expected that the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority will make an announcement regarding Galea’s replacement in the near future.
